We also have a group discussion on what good and bad presentations we have seen. Today we watched the music video 'stupid girl' by pink. The reason for watching this video was to look for all the ways she communities her views to us.

The video include many ways for communication these are the ones i find.

- The way they look
- Body
- Different symbols
- Film
- Songs words
- Specials effects

Lecture December 2nd

Communication

We communicate thought language and body language.
The way people stand, an image we no straight away the meaning.

A signifier - A sign
The outline of an image is the signifier. We know the meaning of image just from the outline.

Language is always changing - what means something to you might mean something different to someone else.

Russian Cyrillic alphabet shows different sounds, ideas and different meanings.
Symbolic signs you know straight away like road signs and flags of different country's.

We use everything around us to help us communicate.

Photography

I was away for the lesson on photography however i have look at other people notes on the lecture and decided to look up the photographer Tom Stoddart. I looked at alot of his photos and find them quite upseting. However i like black and white photos and these show the real emotioin the people faces.

Graphic Design

For the graphic design lecture i was away, however looking though the presentation notes on blackboard i can get a real understanding of all the different sides to graphic design. As my chosen pathway I've never really thought what is graphic design? Now looking thought some of the images posted i see a pattern of logos, layout and typography shown. I love working with text and layout and i think if everyone looked at examples of these it would give people a good understanding of what a good layout looks like depending on the style/subject it for.

Reading 1 - Vivienne Westwood

Reading the Vivienne Westwood text i thought i would of bin reading alot about fashion and her design and ideas (which of course i wouldn't mind as i love fashion and shopping), but there was alot about the design of her logo and her involvement in the process. I was really surprised that Vivienne has alot of say about the design of the packaging and logo as i thought all her interest was in fashion design.
I really like the fact she uses ideas and designs from the people around her. Also the thought of what colours to use and what they symbolise. I like that i can now see the graphic design
side of fashion and would like to do something like this in the
future.

Magazine Covers

I LOVE looking at magazine covers. They really inspire
me to look at different layouts and typography to help
me improve in my graphics modules.
